revengeofthesonoftheoocEeeeyyyyoo, Arc here, and welcome to a very slow event following the plotline of an early Kirby game! Participation is, of course, optional, and remember that if a world that your character is from is afflicted, it can always be an alternate universe version instead! Nobody is forced to be a part of this.
What has happened will be told by the fairy here, named Ribbon, shortly on the comms. In short, the large crystal of Ripple Star has been shattered into hundreds of pieces, and scattered across the multiverse. Each world that contains a shard has gotten a splinter of corruption, causing Dark Matter to spread across it, afflicting people via possession.
A Dark Matter looks basically like a shroud of darkness with an eyeball. They're exceedingly fast and cunning, so even the fastest character may have issues keeping from them. (Reminder: Possession is optional.) A character possessed by a Dark Matter has their thoughts and tendencies skewed to the destructive side. Those already with destructive tendencies will instead have those amplified tenfold. They can and will attack anyone who dares stop them, and only defeating the possessed character in combat will force the Dark Matter to flee the scene.
Dark Matter possession also grants characters with dark-element abilities, such as projectiles, lightning, etc. - be creative! There's no limitations. That means even someone without powers will be able to gain some via possession - and their eyes and other features will change as well! Again, be creative!
Keep in mind that in most cases, a possessed character will not be able to speak, but they can recognize familiar people - which can be dangerous!
Each crystal shard will most definitely be either well hidden, or guarded by a Dark Matter - and they can be fought without possessing someone. Be careful, though! Dark Matter on their own are still very potent!
I know what you're thinking - how does my character find a crystal shard? Well, Ribbon here happens to have a shard in her possession, which allows her to fly and also locate other shards. Characters with the ability to create locators can create Dragon Radar-type things with it to help others locate more shards. Ribbon herself will stick around as a Navigator, helping everyone she can find the shards.
The shards themselves don't grant any power by their lonesome - they must be fully reassembled to pierce the core surrounding Ripple Star and stop the Dark Matter once and for all!
Nobody has to go through me to do anything with this event! Feel free to have your characters be possessed, find shards, assume Ribbon is helping or not helping your characters, and poke me if you wish me to participate in your threads! I'll also be tossing some corrupted boss fights in here and there, so make of the event what you wish! It'll automatically progress as time goes on, with a final push and battle happening sometime in the next month or so.
